My name is Solenne, but most people call me Leni. I was born in Thunder Bay and started dancing at the age of 2½. When I moved to Owen Sound, we chose Dancemakers because it was such a welcoming and accomplished studio.…it quickly became my forever dance family.
I have studied Ballet, Pointe, Classical Variations, Character, Modern, Contemporary, Lyrical, Jazz, Tap and Hip Hop. I have trained and examined in multiple levels of ballet, following the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) curriculum. I am entering my 10th year on the competitive team and have won group, duet, and solo awards in multiple competitions, including top overall scores and two invitations to national competitions. I have been a recipient of judges’ awards, with my all-time favourite being for “joyful dancing”.
My teaching style mirrors my dance style and how I generally live life. Above all, I respect myself, my students, teachers and peers. We will encourage each other to grow by trying new techniques and holding each other accountable with practice! Finally, it is very important to me to create a fun and inclusive space that welcomes all dancers, regardless of skill or experience level.
Outside of the studio, I work hard to keep on honour roll at school, I play volleyball, volunteer with community groups and was a recipient of the Ontario Volunteer Service Award in 2022.
I will be leading recreational hip hop classes and look forward to a new year with some new and familiar faces.
