Taylor Hooey is a teacher, choreographer and dancer currently working with young aspiring artists and performers. With a strong passion for the arts, she attended York University and obtained a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance, specializing in choreography and performance graduating with Honours. Within her 4 years of studies, she trained and collaborated with some of Toronto’s leading dance professionals such as Tracey Norman, Susan Lee, Syreeta Hector and many more! She is trained in RAD and Cecchetti ballet, jazz and modern techniques, contemporary as well as having acrobatics and world dance forms experience. Within her 17 years in the dance community, she was fortunate enough to attend Canada’s National Ballet School summer intensive, completed numerous RAD ballet examinations and has competed in dance competitions all over Ontario. Taylor’s love for performing grew during her time at York as she performed in many York Dances and Dance Innovation productions. This allowed her to become experienced in lighting/sound operations and casting processes. As well as, Taylor has received choreography overall awards recognized by industry professionals. Taylor is passionate about creating innovative choreography to push the boundaries of movement exploration as well as staying current and educated with the fast pace evolving world of dance. She is currently working towards her Bachelor of Education at Lakehead University with the intention of teaching the next generation of dancers/students to find their own artistry and confidence that will help them on the stage and in their everyday life. As a dance educator, she prioritizes creating a safe, diverse and inclusive space for all. Taylor is a recent member of The Professional Adjudicators Alliance, qualified to judge dance competitions in Canada and is thrilled to watch young performers showcase their talents and love for dance!
